1. SuperLotto Plus

New SuperLotto Plus gives 9 ways to win a prize, and has a starting jackpot of $7 million. Pick up a playslip at any of over 18,000 California Lottery retailers statewide. Tickets are only sold by California Lottery retailers to persons 18 or older. Just look for the signs with the California Lottery logo displayed at a California Lottery retailer near you.

Select how you want to be paid. Choose either "26 annual payments" or "cash value". Pick five numbers from 1 to 47 and a MEGA number from 1 to 27 on the playslip or choose Quick Pick and let the computer pick them for you. On any play, you can mark "Quick Pick" to select just the five numbers, or just the MEGA number, or both.

SuperLotto Plus costs $1 per play per draw. Remember, you can also select up to 5 additional Quick Picks on one playslip. You can even play your selected numbers up to 20 draws in advance by marking the "ADVANCE PLAY" box on your playslip.

When you buy a SuperLotto Plus ticket from a California Lottery retailer, check the numbers on your printed lottery ticket. Once you've made sure the numbers are correct, sign the back of your ticket. Watch the lottery draw (every Wednesday and Saturday nights) to see if your numbers match the winning lottery numbers drawn.

There are 9 ways to match and win. In fact, you can win even if you just match the MEGA number. To win the Jackpot, you must match all five numbers plus the MEGA number. Jackpots are paid in 26 annual payments or a player may choose the cash value payment in one lump sum.

3. Daily Derby

Daily Derby draws are held every day. Players can pick their horses and Race Time during regular Lottery hours from 6:00 a.m. to 1:15 a.m. Players must purchase their Daily Derby ticket before 6:30 p.m., otherwise they will be playing for the next day's draw. The Daily Derby draws will be held at approximately 6:35 p.m., at which time you will be able to get winning information from your retailer's terminal. The draw will actually be broadcast on local television at 6:56 p.m. daily.

  1. Choose your three favorite horses: one to finish first, one to finish second and one to finish third. Mark these choices on your playslip.
  2. Select your Race Time, which is the time taken by the First Place horse to complete the race. The Race Time will range from 1:40:00 (one minute, forty seconds) to 1:49:99 (one minute, 49.99 seconds). You select the final three numbers, the seconds and hundredths of seconds. For example, if you choose one-minute, forty-two point three-one seconds (1:42:31) as your Race Time, you would mark only the last three digits (2.31) on your playslip.
  3. To let the terminal randomly select your horses or your Race Time for you, mark the appropriate Quick Pick box. If you want both your horses and Race Time randomly selected for you, be sure to mark both Quick Pick boxes.
  4. To play more than one draw, mark the appropriate Advance Play box to play your horses and Race Time choices for up to 7 or 14 draws in a row.
  5. After marking all your choices, take your playslip, along with $2 for each play, to the Lottery retailer to receive your ticket. Be sure to check your ticket for accuracy.

4. Hot Spot

Playing Hot Spot is easy and winning is fun! Just grab a playslip, a pencil and follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose the spot (set of numbers) you want to play per draw - you can play 2, 3, 4, 5 or 8 spots.
  2. Pick your numbers from 1 to 80 or mark "Quick Pick" and your numbers will be randomly selected for you. Remember, your numbers must equal the number of spots you selected in Step1. (Example: If you mark a '3' spot, you must pick three numbers.)
  3. Choose how much you want to play per draw - $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 - and mark it on the playslip.
  4. Mark how many consecutive draws you want to play.
  5. Watch the monitor to see if you've won.

Bulls-eye extra feature

Bulls-eye gives you an extra chance to win. There are still 20 winning numbers on every Hot Spot draw. Now one of them will be the red "Bulls-eye" number. Every time you play Bulls-eye and match the Bulls-eye number, you can win bigger prizes with your Hot Spot play.

How to Play Bulls-eye

  • To play Bulls-eye, you must play Hot Spot and wager a minimum of $2. ($1 for Hot Spot and $1 for Bulls-eye)
  • On the new Hot Spot Bulls-eye playslip, pick the number of spots you want to play. Bulls-eye is not available on the 8 Spot.
  • Pick your favorite Hot Spot numbers from the field of 80. (You do not select a separate "Bulls-eye" number.)
  • When you select Bulls-eye on your playslip, the minimum cost to play the Bulls-eye feature is an additional $1 per play, per draw.
  • Your Bulls-eye wager amount must equal your Hot Spot wager. (i.e., $2 for Hot Spot and $2 for Bulls-eye = $4 total wager.)
  • You will receive a Hot Spot ticket displaying the message "BULLS-EYE PLAYED".
  • Watch the Hot Spot monitor to see if any of your Hot Spot numbers match the highlighted red Bulls-eye number.

How to win Bulls-eye

You win a prize if you

1. Match just the Bulls-eye number

2. Match the Bulls-eye number plus additional Hot Spot numbers.

  • You can win a Bulls-eye prize without winning a Hot Spot prize.
  • To let you know how much you've won, the Hot Spot monitors will display the winning amounts for Hot Spot as well as the combined winnings for a Hot Spot and Bulls-eye win.

How to Claim a Prize

  • All winning lottery tickets must be claimed promptly within 180 days after the draw in which the prize was won.
  • Special Lottery promotions may have different claiming periods.
  • Prizes under $600 per play may be claimed at any participating cashing retailer.
  • For winning lottery tickets of $600 or more, per play, submit a claim form and your original ticket to the Lottery address on the Winner's Claim form for payment.
  • Consecutive draw tickets may be claimed before the last draw printed on the ticket. An Exchange ticket will be issued with the original play selections and remaining lottery draws printed on it.
  • Your ticket, not your playslip, is your only valid receipt and proof of eligibility for a prize. Check your ticket immediately to ensure that the information is correct.
  • Federal, State Law, and Lottery rules and regulations apply.

*Bulls-eye, like Hot Spot, is pari-mutuel. That means the prize amounts are based on sales, the number of winners, and the amount wagered per draw. As a result, if no one wins a particular prize level in a draw, that prize pool rolls and gets even bigger for the next draw.

  • Your $1 play is split between both Play styles - 50 cents to Straight and 50 cents to Box.
  • Since $1 is split between the two Play styles, the potential payouts are approximately half the prize amounts.
  • By matching the winning lottery numbers in the exact order, you win approximately half the Straight prize plus approximately half the Box prize. If you match the winning numbers in any other order, you win approximately half the Box prize only.
  • Prize is pari-mutuel*

*Pari-mutuel prize amounts will vary depending upon sales levels and number of winners.

You can select your own numbers or Play Quick Pick for $1.00 per play per draw. When you select Quick Pick, the Lottery terminal will randomly select your three Daily 3 numbers for you.

If you don't ask for a specific play style you will automatically receive Straight Daily 3 play. You can also play your number combinations for up to 14 consecutive draws with the Advance Play feature.

How to get the most from the least-played numbers

A pari-mutuel prize structure means players' winnings can be determined by what numbers they play. For example: Most players frequently play the same popular numbers such as 777. If 777 were to be drawn the prize for that draw would be divided between all of the players who played 777. On the other hand if a lottery player were to play less popular numbers and those numbers were drawn, he or she would share the prize amount with fewer winners. With this in mind, you might want to try playing less popular numbers as they just might be your ticket to bigger prizes.

For a look at the most popular numbers as of February 1997, see the chart below.
